ReEntry, WoMen's Center to Host LUNAFEST
March 8 – LUNAFEST is a national traveling film festival that showcases a diverse selection of original short films by, for and about women. It was created to raise awareness about women's issues, highlight women filmmakers and bring women together in their communities. Read more…

Cal Poly Pomona in Sacramento
March 19 – Come network with fellow Sacramento alumni, as well as graduates from all 23 Cal State University campuses from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Convention Center (rooms 311-314). Family Fun Days at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center
March 24 – Family Fun Days offers free, arts-centered activities for children and their families on the 4th Saturday of the month from 1-4 p.m. at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center. Cal Poly Pomona theatre students will work with those attending to introduce them to fun theatre games & improvisation. Theatre builds self-confidence, creative thinking, and social skills in children and youth. Read more…

Sunday Horse Show
April 1 – The Sunday Horse Show is held on the first Sunday of each month from October to May at 2 p.m. at the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center. The cost of admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. Children under 5 and younger are free. Read more...

Teacher Job Fair
April 5 – Are you interested in working with children? Attend the Teacher Job Fair to talk with over 60 school districts under "one roof." All majors are welcome to attend. Even if you are not a credentialed teacher, this job fair will enable you to find out more information about employment opportunities. Be prepared for on-the-spot interviews. Read more…

Self-Defense Class for Women
April 9 – Learn tips on personal safety, physical defense techniques and assertiveness training at a self defense class for women. The event is hosted by the Stop Violence Office as part of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. Class to take place 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Java the Hut (Building 71). Spring Career Day
April 19 – Make valuable connections at this large, outdoor job fair for part-time, summer internships, temporary and full-time career positions. More than 200 leading nationally recognized employers will be participating from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the University Quad. All majors, class levels, and alumni are welcome. Landscape Architecture Department Celebrates 50 Years
April 23-29 – Celebrate the collective past, present and future of the Department of Landscape Architecture. This six-day event is designed to reconnect alumni, friends and former faculty. Read more…

Brothers Find Calling in Engineering

It is atypical enough for an undergrad to pursue the rigorous study of engineering. It is also uncommon for Latino/Hispanic students to enroll in engineering. However, the three Saldivar brothers, who are enrolled in engineering, are defying the odds.

A slight 5 percent of American graduates have earned their degrees in engineering. In comparison, 25 percent of college graduates in Russia and 46 percent in China studied engineering, according to "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. Read more...

Accounting Students Offer Tax Aid to Low-Income Residents
Accounting students will provide free tax clinics from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays through April 15 at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center and at the Boys & Girls Club in Pomona. Read more...

EPA Recognizes CSU as One of Nation’s Top Green Power Purchasers
The California State University has announced that it appears on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's list of Top 10 college and university green power purchasers in EPA's Green Power Partnership. The CSU is being recognized for its voluntary purchase of over 78 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power, representing 11 percent of the university's annual electricity usage. Read more...

120 Greeks Plant Trees at New Wetlands Park
More than 100 members of the Cal Poly Pomona Greek community gave up a Saturday recently to plant trees at the Chino Creek Wetlands and Educational Park. The Inland Empire Utilities Agency's wetlands park, which is under construction, is located on a 22-acre site in south Chino. Read more...

Mentors at Metro' Features Work by Faculty, Students
Cal Poly Pomona's Art department and the Light Bringer Project have teamed up to showcase work by faculty and students at Metro Gallery in Pasadena from Feb. 17 to March 10. The exhibit, aptly named "Mentors at Metro," features work by 16 art and design faculty members alongside work by 16 handpicked students. Read more...

In Memoriam: Jazz Guitarist Ronald Muldrow
Ronald Muldrow, 57, a former Music faculty member and legendary jazz guitarist, died Jan. 31 at his home in Los Angeles. Muldrow taught Soul Music, Improvisation and Studio Guitar for the Music department from 2000 to 2006 and was widely liked by students and colleagues. Read more...
