Sign Up: State-Approved Notary Classes
March 23 – The College of the Extended University is offering a one-day seminar for individuals interested in becoming a notary. Whether new to the profession or a seasoned notary, you will receive practical training to sail through the National Notary Exam. Classes will also be held April 14, May 19 and June 23. Read more...

Derby Day and Alumni Picnic
April 8 – The College of Business Administration Alumni Chapter invites all alumni to spend a day at the beautiful Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. Event package includes barbecue lunch, one general admission ticket, parking and a racing program. A space in the infield picnic area has been reserved for our group. Read more...

April 8 – The College of the Extended University is offering a class called Chocolate Lovers Delight. This class will teach the secrets of making delicious truffles, chocolate mousse and a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate soufflé. Read more...

Celebrating Pride & Excellence Scholarship Dinner
April 13 – The annual Pride Center scholarship dinner will be held at Kellogg West from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Honoring outstanding students, this event is sponsored by the Pride Center, the Lambda Chapter of the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association, Pride Alliance Staff/Faculty group, the College of Science and the College of Engineering. Lisa RandsLisa Rands '99, Geology
World-Class Boulderer

Every so often, an athlete comes along who excels at a chosen sport from the get-go. Such is Lisa Rands.

Rands ’99 is a world-class boulderer, a sport akin to rock climbing. In the five years she’s been competing professionally, Rands has been ranked No. 1 in the world (2002), was the first American to win the coveted international World Cup, and has been ranked No. 1 in the United States four times (2000-03). At age 29, and with nearly two dozen victories under her belt, there’s clearly much more to come. Read more...

College of Engineering & U.S. Air Force Collaborate on New
Wind Tunnels

The College of Engineering is partnering with the United States Air Force to build two wind tunnels. In about two years, the supersonic and subsonic wind tunnels, which are used to simulate airflow for aerodynamic testing, will enhance the ability of Aerospace Engineering students to conduct experiments and research in aerodynamics. The campus community was invited to attend the official groundbreaking ceremony for the University Library addition and renovation project, "Phase I – The Next Chapter," on Monday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. on the grass near the northeast side of the library, next to parking lots C and D. Read more...

During the fall 2005 term, a three-year review of J. Michael Ortiz, president of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), was conducted. Professor Jill Adler-Moore Honored as Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has awarded Biological Sciences professor Jill Adler-Moore the distinction of AAAS Fellow. Adler-Moore, who joined Cal Poly Pomona in 1974, was elected as a fellow for her innovative development of liposomal formulations for the delivery of antifungal drugs. Read more...

Bronco Student-Athletes Make the Grade
Cal Poly Pomona's student-athletes have posted some impressive academic numbers in the fall quarter of 2005, the Athletics Department announced on Friday. The Broncos had 29 student-athletes make the Dean’s List and 113 of the 214 Bronco student-athletes (53 percent) earned grade point averages above 3.0. To make the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a quarter grade point average of 3.5 or above. Read more...
