Women’s Basketball Alumni Night
March 4 All former Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball players are invited to participate in an evening honoring the student-athletes who have made the program the most successful in the NCAA Division II. Alumni are encouraged to join the team for the regular-season finale against Cal State Monterey Bay and a special halftime reception in their honor. A celebration for this year's graduating seniors will take place immediately following the 5:30 game in Kellogg Gym.

| Michael Schilling '83, '90, Chemistry
Senior Scientist, Getty Conservation Institute
More than 20 years ago, one of Mike Schilling’s first assignments for what is now the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) was verifying the authenticity of a painting depicting the Madonna and Child. The Getty was planning to purchase the apparent 14th century work of art for a sizeable sum.
“It looked authentic to me, and it looked authentic to the curators and conservators,” says Schilling. Read more... |

| David Klock Named Dean of College of Business Administration
David Klock, who had served as the chief executive officer of the CompBenefits Corp. for 11 years, has been named dean of the College of Business Administration. It's been difficult for assistant professor of Sociology Faye Wachs to get back to her normal teaching routine. Over the past three weeks, media outlets nationwide have clambered to hear her retell the harrowing experience of how she and her husband survived the deadly tsunami while scuba diving in Thailand and witnessed the devastation of its aftermath. University Prepares for Construction of New Parking Structure and Parking Expansions
Parking & Transportation Services, in partnership with Facilities Planning & Management, has begun a series of replacement parking lot expansions to offset the spaces that will be lost during the construction for Parking Structure I in Lot F. In total, 650 additional parking spaces will be created throughout the campus by mid-February 2005, with additional spaces coming later in the academic year. Read more...

First built for the Kellogg family in the 1920s, Manor House now serves as the private resident for the University President. The historical Mediterranean home has been renovated recently with the arrival of President and Mrs. Ortiz on campus; however, one “key” feature is missing – a grand piano.
