Rose Float Decorations Week
December 26 to 31 – Join fellow alumni, faculty and friends in this popular annual rush to put the finishing touches on the float for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 2. Click here or contact Janetta McDowell at (909) 869-3642 for more information.

Floating into the New Year
January 2 – With only a few weeks to go, the Cal Poly Universities Rose Float Committee and the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center are in the final stages of preparing for the university's appearance in the 2006 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. "Enchanted Reverie" is the 58th float entry for the Cal Poly Universities. Show your support by purchasing fun hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts.

Pack the Gym Night
January 13 – Show your Bronco spirit during the men's and women's basketball game against Chico State. Read more...

Contemporary Native American Exhibit and Reception
January 14 – A hosted reception will kick-off the January/February 2006 exhibit at the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center. The exhibit features painting, installation, photography and graphics, and includes pieces dealing with contemporary Native American issues. Read more...

“Mother Courage and Her Children”
February 24 to March 5 – A timeless classic written by Bertolt Brecht and directed by Bernardo Solano, this play is described as an unsentimental look at war, the people who profit from it and the people who suffer as a result of it. Read more...

Engineering Open House
February 25 – The College of Engineering will host its annual open house, with various department orientations as well as open labs and student projects on display. Alumni are invited to drop by and help out by serving on a department panel or greeting guests. Read more...

Founders’ Celebration 2006: Anka’s Back!
March 5 – Have the time of your life when Paul Anka makes an encore performance at the university’s premier social and support gala, Founders’ Celebration, held March 5 at the Pacific Palms Resort in Industry Hills. Proceeds help fund student scholarships and academic enrichment. Read more...

Dreambox CreationsDreamBox: Alumni Founders Mix School Spirit with Private Venture

In 1999, six Cal Poly Pomona students — each carrying 12-20 units and working part-time jobs — decided to start an Internet consulting firm that combined sophisticated artistic sensibilities with cutting-edge Web-based application development. After attending classes during the day, the team reassembled at a founding member's apartment to work on DreamBox projects until the small hours of the morning.

“The decision to rent an office was a huge one,” says computer information systems graduate Dan Bejmuk '00, vice president of operations and project management, “but we knew we had to take a risk if we were going to do this right.” Read more...

President Ortiz Named to List of 100 Most Influential Hispanics
President Michael Ortiz was featured in the October issue of Hispanic Business magazine as one of "100 Most Influential Hispanics." "I am humbled to be recognized among such a distinguished group of people," says Ortiz. "In reality, this award reflects the great things that are happening at Cal Poly Pomona due to the efforts of our faculty and staff." Read more...

Francis, Anderson Earn Volleyball All-America Honors
Cal Poly Pomona’s women’s volleyball team now has a pair of All-America awards to put an exclamation point on one of the best seasons in the program’s history. Seniors Kellie Francis and Allison Anderson were both named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II All-America teams announced Nov. 28 by the AVCA. Francis, an outside hitter for Cal Poly Pomona, earned second-team honors, while Anderson, a middle blocker for the Broncos, received third-team honors. Read more...
