Centers’ 10-Year Anniversary

campus community will celebrate the rich diversity
the Cultural Centers have brought to Cal Poly
Pomona for a decade. Multicultural performances
and student reflections will begin at noon in
University Park, while an evening program in
the Bronco Student Center will recognize alumni,
students, staff and faculty for their support.

Bar
Windie
Scott first marched into history wearing a tartan
skirt and carrying a trumpet for the Sacred
Heart Academy marching band. This may not seem
significant except that Scott was one of three
children selected from a segregated Catholic School
in Biloxi, Miss., to integrate the previously
all-white Sacred Heart Academy in 1967. Although Brown
v. Board of Education was decided in 1954,
it took more than 10 years to be implemented
in the South, and the first schools to experience
desegregation were the private parochial schools
such as Our Mother of Sorrows. Read

Offers Endowment Incentive Program
The
Cal Poly Pomona University Educational Trust
(UET) has launched an endowment incentive
program to provide bonus funds to donors
opening new endowment accounts. Those who
contribute a minimum of $10,000 or more to
establish an endowment will automatically
receive an additional $5,000 from the UET

The
Cal Poly Universities Rose Float has always been
a special part of the university, but recently
it received the royal treatment. The 2005 Rose
Queen and Tournament of Roses Royal Court visited
Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 18 to learn more about
the long-standing Cal Poly Universities Rose
Float tradition, see the progress on the 2005
float, tour the Rose Float Lab, as well as meet

The online annual report, along with a message

of Students in 2003-04
Cal
Poly Pomona graduated 3,632 students in the 2003-04
academic year—more than the university
has ever graduated before. The university was
part of trend within the California State University
system, showing that efforts to help students
move quickly to graduation are beginning to take
effect. The significant growth in graduating
students is strikingly evident in both bachelor's
