Be True to Your School: Join an Alumni Chapter Today

As a good networking resource and campus reconnection outlet, Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association chapters serve the cultural and practical interests of alumni. Alumni can choose from nine active chapters* — or perhaps even form a new one. Chapter activities benefit not only the members themselves, but also the university and Cal Poly Pomona students as well.

The Office of Alumni Affairs encourages all Cal Poly Pomona grads to reconnect and get involved. By joining the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association, alumni can sign up for any chapter at no additional cost. Call (909) 869-2963 or e-mail cpalumni@csupomona.edu for more information, or simply contact a chapter president.

Black Alumni and Friends
President: Akua Maat (formerly Kimberly R. Calvin) '96, Communication

The mission of the Black Alumni and Friends Chapter is to assist alumni in continued educational, cultural, economical, and social growth within the black community. Black Alumni and Friends aims to maximize alumni resources toward the attainment of education and charitable goals established by the chapter.

This year, the chapter will host the opening ceremony for "Weaving the Tapestry," a holiday cultural and community festival. The event is sponsored by the World Council on Diversity and Adelphia Community Television and is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Cal Poly Pomona. During the opening ceremony, various black alumni and community members will be honored for their contributions to society. If you know of any alumni doing outstanding things in the community, please contact the chapter to receive a nomination application.
